Day 219: Played The Hunger Games

We are approaching the first 24 hours of living below the poverty line, and thus far it has been more mentally difficult than physically.  We feel that we have more than enough food to eat, but not being able to season or add sugar to any of it weighs on a couple of foodies.  Even in this small amount of time, we have gained more of a perspective of what life is really like for those living below the poverty line.  What we see as a small amount of bland food, they see as what they need to survive.  I can already say that I will never take the food that we have for granted.

My wife (along with my friend Matt and every teenage girl) has been enthralled by the Hunger Games series.  I have never seen her tear through a series of books so quickly.  I'm not too familiar with the series seeing as how I haven't read any of the books, but it seems that they must survive on a small amount of food similar to how we are doing the Live Below The Line challenge.  Well yesterday, I received a message from one of our Facebook followers that pointed me in the direction of a Hunger Games challenge that went in line with what we were doing this week.  The studio behind the Hunger Games, The World Food Programme, and Feeding America have teamed up with an anonymous donor who will donate a nutritious meal for answering correctly on a Hunger Games themed quiz.  All you need to do is answer the questions correctly, and hungry children will get to eat.  Please join me in taking a couple of minutes out of your day to answer a few questions and feed the needy.

  2. Actually, all you have to do is answer the questions. I got a question wrong and I was still credited with a donation to a hungry child. So cool. Thanks, Ryan. Your blog is awesome.
