Day 229: The Smile Factor Challenge

As I mentioned yesterday, this week is National Smile Week, so I want to make sure to include smiles or smiling in my remaining random acts for the week.  I also want to try to get as many people within the random acts community to help me participate.  In February, I received an email from a woman named Lori.  Lori told me that for her child's birthday, the entire family participated in random acts of kindness.  One of these acts was to have a contest amongst her the members of the family.  The contest is called The Smile Factor.  Basically it is a challenge for everyone to give a smile to everyone they see throughout the course of their day.  They then count up who can get the most smiles back in return.  I thought this was such a cool idea and a small random act that might actually make someone's day.  So today, for my random act of kindness, I am going to issue a challenge.  Starting at Noon, whatever your local time may be, I challenge everyone to smile at as many people as they can, and to count how many smiles they get back in return.  At 5PM your local time, stop counting and send an email to 366RandomActs@gmail.com with your name and the number of smiles that you received.  There will be a special prize that goes out to the winner of the contest.  Good luck though because I am winning this contest!!

  1. Wonderful challenge! I'm a little late, but I make it a point to always smile at strangers in the street...

Incidentally, if you feel like sharing your own smile: send a picture to catalogueofsmiles@gmail.com with your name and location.
Preferably as spontaneous, crazy and awkward as possible. I will put a name to your smile...

    Thanks!
