Day 160: Ate Clam Chowder

Before meeting my wife, my diet consisted of meat, potatoes, fast food, and more meat.  I have always had a very limited palate. Up until the age of 20, I never ate anything green.  This is not a joke.  Any green food made me gag, and I always felt like it tasted terrible.  Somehow now, surprisingly, spinach is one of my favorite foods.   I have really broadened my horizons when it comes to food, but one thing that I am still not a fan of is seafood.  I've had shrimp, calamari, and lobster risotto, but other than that, my seafood experience is very limited, which annoys my wife a ton.  Growing up near Santa Cruz, my wife has always been in love with seafood, especially clam chowder, and always chastises me for not ever trying it.  After going back and forth for about a half an hour trying to get out of trying it, my wife pulled the trump card on me and asked if I would try clam chowder as a random act of kindness to her.  She said it is very important to her and that it totally qualified as a random act.  So today, for my random act of kindness, I tried clam chowder.  It wasn't the worst thing on Earth, but I sure am not a fan of the consistency of the clams.  It felt like I was chewing on erasers.  Either way, I did the random act for her and she can't hold the fact that I haven't tried clam chowder against me any longer.
