Day 296: Bought An Energy Shot
I have decided to dedicate this week to recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For the next few days, each of my random acts will revolve around raising funds or awareness for this terrible disease that affects 1 in every 8 women in their lifetimes (and let's not overlook the fact that 1 out of every 1000 men are affected as well). There are so many great random acts that you can do for breast cancer (and other cancers), so I want to use this forum to display some of those.
I am extremely tired today. Between back pain keeping me up all night and the dreary, rainy weather, I feel like I need a nap. I know that I can't take a nap though because there are doctors and patients out there who are in need of my ZocDoc expertise. I've already slammed a few coffees today, but it just isn't doing the job, so I needed something more. I swung by 7-11 so that I could grab an energy drink of some sort. This was I could power through the day on some artificial adrenaline. When I got to the aisle full of energy shots, I noticed a bright pink display. 5 Hour Energy recently launched a new flavor (pink lemonade) with a plan to give 5 cents of every sale to the Avon Foundation for Women whose goal is to eliminate breast cancer. So today, for my random act of kindness, I bought an energy shot and partially donated to breast cancer research. It is small promotions of kindness and donation that are out there that I really hope to shine a spotlight on.
