Last week, I went to go see the screening of "366" which was a documentary about my random acts created by 3 amazing grad students from Northwestern Medill School of Journalism for their capstone project. I was blown away at how well done the movie was, but wasn't surprised because Donesha, Jackie and Veronica are so talented, professional and creative. Even as I watched the movie, I kept thinking to myself, "Why did they choose me?" I am so thankful that they did because the movie is something that I will always have to show Isla how she inspired my random acts. In fact, I am so thankful that I wanted to find a way to thank the three women for including me in their project.
As so many people out there know, it is a difficult time right now for graduates who are looking for jobs. The job market is crowded, so it is many times very hard to differentiate yourself from the pack, especially in the news and entertainment industry. Well the three women are now a part of the job seeking community now that they have graduated from Northwestern. I figured if there was anything that I could do to try to help them find an interview/connection/job/network as a way to thank them for including me in their film, then I had to do it. So today, for my random act of kindness, I am going to assist them in trying to find a job. I have had the privilege of meeting and interacting with many people within the news industry during my random acts of kindness. I am going to reach out to them to see if there is any way they may be able to help out the three women in any way. I will also use my skills from when I worked in recruiting to get their resume in front of the right people. If anyone out there is looking for awesome candidates for reporting or producing jobs in any capacity, please let me know. NEWS TEAM ASSEMBLE!!
